Cheer Us On!

Regattas are day-long events and the competition is intense. Awards are given for first, second and third place finishes. Dublin Crew relies upon parent volunteers to transport athletes, the boats and the food trailer, set up tents at regatta sites, prepare food for rowers and families and, most importantly, cheer on the boats! Your support is invaluable and appreciated.

Watching a Regatta

The Water's Edge

As with any team sport, spectators are welcome at regattas. While each boat races to the finish line, you can cheer from the water's edge. In between races you can enjoy the festive atmosphere, sit back and relax or lend a hand in the food tent.

Are you new to the sport? Check out US Rowing for lots of insightful information.

Never been to a regatta? Check out suggestions for What to Bring.

Regattas are day-long events. Join other parent volunteers who know the ropes or contribute your expertise to make our regatta operations as efficient as possible.

Dublin Crew especially needs your support each spring to successfully host the Ohio Governor's Cup Regatta.

What to Bring to Regattas

Regattas are day-long events so dress appropriately for the weather. Layers are best. Don't forget hats and gloves, as weather dictates. For spectators, comfortable shoes are important because regattas can involve lots of walking - to and from the boats, parking lots and the tents, along the 5K and 2K courses, and to the results board and awards presentations.

Each regatta, Dublin Crew sets up tents for the athletes' rest and relaxation and for food service. Meals and food service items (plates, utensils, cups, napkins) are provided for athletes and families.

Also, remember the items you agreed to contribute via SignUp Genius.

Items spectators might want to bring:

  • Lawn Chairs
  • Beverages (water at food tent is for rowers only; families provide their own beverages)
  • Reusable Water Bottle
  • Sunglasses and Sunscreen
  • Binoculars
  • Cameras
  • Umbrella / Rain Gear / Boots / Towels
  • Reading Materials
  • Blanket
  • Team Spirit!

Rowers and coxswains need to bring:

  • 7/16ths Wrench (on a lanyard) for boat rigging
  • Both Uniform Tops (tank and longsleeve) and Black Spandex Shorts
  • Reusable Water Bottle
  • Extra (dry) Clothing
  • Extra Socks
  • White racing hat / black fleece hat (optional items to be worn during races)
  • Sunglasses and Sunscreen
